Another Successful HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENT!
THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED THIS WEEKEND! We had a great turnout on June 16th and 17th, and we would like to thank everyone who made appointments; and, to the many newcomers we met, we hope to see you back as well. We truly appreciated the NEARLY 400 calls we had for appointments, which led to a very, very smooth event! If you have any comments or suggestions regarding this event, please let us know by clicking here: June HHW Event comments
Our HHW events have become so popular, that we now must require reservations. This not only ensures you will be able to drop off when you expect, but it also helps reduce roadway congestion and traffic safety issues caused by backlogs of vehicles. OUR NEXT EVENT IS SEPTEMBER 15TH AND 16TH.
We will be accepting calls for reservations beginning SEPTEMBER 6TH through 14TH, ending at 4:00. The location will be provided at the time of reservation. Charlevoix County is very proud of the programs provided to our residents through your recycling millage, and we look forward to serving you!
Charlevoix County Road Commission:
A NEW LIGHT ON ROAD SAFETY
This winter, due to new legislation, you will be seeing amber and GREEN flashing lights in the distance, signalling you that a Road Commission vehicle is approaching, or you will BE approaching. The new lights are quite bright, and are easily recognizable in the dark, snowdust, and other hazardous conditions. You will be seeing the new GREEN lights on road safety vehicles throughout the state here forwarded. Charlevoix County Road Commission gives the GREEN light to safety!
SINGLE PUBLIC ENTRANCE
Due to the increased need for security and safety in governmental buildings everywhere, Charlevoix County has begun implenting many new steps and measures as well. In addition to improving and strengthening our security monitoring systems and upgrading many doors and window areas, we have also moved to a single point of entry for the public. Conveniently located adjacent to the public parking lot at "the back" of the County Building, the large double doored vestibule is now our single entrance for public use. Although some may find the main entrance (which these doors have always been) a little farther from a particular office than when you previously parked on a side street and entered other doors, we hope everyone can appreciate the role we take in protecting the safety and security of not only you the public, but that of our staff and officials as well.
